The unique ‘FOLDING HOUSE’ BY X11 DESIGN STUDIO

Vietnam-based X11 Design Studio recently completed what they called the “Folding House,” a narrow and elongated single-family home tucked within a street in Hanoi, Vietnam. Inspired by paper folds and the natural growth of plants, the concrete dwelling, highlighted by deeply saturated wood accents and lush green foliage, features flexible transitions from floor to ceiling, with lush greenery gradually spreading upward to all corners.

On the initial floor in the folding house, three courtyards are alternately arranged to generate browsing points and regulate the building's microclimate. A light stuffed, split-level room with opposite stairs greets the owners. This volumetric feature is a soft transition from the living area to the kitchen.

Towards the top of the residence, there's a tiny yet incredibly flourishing backyard where family and friends can be together and enjoy the view.
